Description

Filled PTFE is a modified form of Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) produced by incorporating selected fillers into virgin PTFE resin to enhance its mechanical, thermal, electrical, and wear properties.

Virgin PTFE offers outstanding chemical resistance, wide service temperature range, and extremely low friction. However, its inherent softness and tendency to creep under load limit its use in high-pressure or dynamic applications. These limitations can be effectively overcome by adding functional fillers.

Common fillers for PTFE include:

glass fiber, glass microsphere, carbon, graphite, bronze, stainless steel, molybdenum disulfide, polyimide, silica, barium sulfate, calcium fluoride, alumina, and other inorganic or polymer-based fillers.
