Nylon Sheet VS POM Sheet: Applications and Differences

Nylon Sheet is a widely used engineering plastic material with excellent toughness, high wear resistance, oil resistance, impact resistance, tensile strength, and bending strength.

Compared with other plastic materials, Nylon Sheet has the special advantage of low water absorption. Due to its excellent comprehensive performance, Nylon Sheet is widely used in different industrial fields.

Nylon Sheet and POM Sheet Differences

The main difference between Nylon Sheet and POM Sheet is their material composition.

Nylon Sheet is manufactured from nylon resin (polyamide), while POM Sheet is manufactured from polyoxymethylene resin (POM).

POM Sheet has higher rigidity and better dimensional stability, while Nylon Sheet has better toughness, impact resistance, wear resistance, and self-lubricating performance.

Nylon Sheet is mainly used in automotive components, electrical and electronic parts, mechanical structural components, bearings, gears, rollers, and wear-resistant parts.

POM Sheet is mainly used for precision mechanical components, small accessories, gears, and parts requiring high dimensional accuracy.

Types of Nylon Sheet

Extruded Nylon Sheet

Nylon 6 Sheet (White)

Nylon 6 provides excellent comprehensive performance, including mechanical strength, stiffness, toughness, mechanical vibration damping properties, and wear resistance.

Combined with excellent electrical insulation performance and chemical resistance, Nylon 6 is considered a general-purpose engineering plastic widely used for manufacturing mechanical structural parts and wear-resistant components.

Nylon 66 Sheet (Cream Color)

Compared with Nylon 6, Nylon 66 provides better mechanical strength, stiffness, heat resistance, wear resistance, and creep resistance.

Although its impact strength and mechanical vibration damping performance are slightly reduced, Nylon 66 is highly suitable for precision machining applications, especially automatic lathe machining.

Nylon 4.6 Sheet (Red Brown)

Compared with ordinary nylon materials, Nylon 4.6 features excellent stiffness retention and creep resistance.

It provides better thermal aging resistance over a wider temperature range.

Nylon 4.6 is suitable for higher-temperature applications where Nylon 6, Nylon 66, POM, and PET cannot meet the requirements for stiffness, creep resistance, thermal aging resistance, fatigue strength, and wear resistance.

Typical operating temperature range: 80–150°C.

Nylon 66 + GF30 Sheet (Black)

Compared with pure Nylon 66, Nylon 66 reinforced with 30% glass fiber provides improved heat resistance, strength, stiffness, creep resistance, dimensional stability, and wear resistance.

It also has a higher maximum allowable service temperature, making it suitable for demanding mechanical applications.

Nylon 66 + MOS2 Sheet (Gray Black)

Nylon 66 + MOS2 is a modified nylon material containing molybdenum disulfide.

Compared with Nylon 66, it provides improved rigidity, hardness, and dimensional stability.

Although impact strength may decrease slightly, the addition of molybdenum disulfide improves the crystalline structure, resulting in better load-bearing capacity and wear resistance.

Cast Nylon Sheet (MC Nylon)

MC Nylon Sheet Introduction

Cast Nylon Sheet, also known as MC Nylon (Monomer Casting Nylon), is manufactured through the monomer casting process.

MC Nylon is known as “replacing steel with plastic” due to its excellent overall performance.

It features lightweight structure, high strength, self-lubricating properties, excellent wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and electrical insulation performance.

MC Nylon is one of the most widely used engineering plastics and is applied in almost all industrial fields.

Common Types of Cast Nylon Sheet

MC Nylon Sheet (Ivory White)

Unmodified cast Nylon 6 has characteristics very close to Nylon 66.

It provides excellent comprehensive properties, including high strength, high stiffness, high hardness, creep resistance, wear resistance, heat aging resistance, and excellent machinability.

MC901 Modified Nylon Sheet (Blue)

MC901 is a modified Nylon 6 material with a distinctive blue color.

Compared with standard cast nylon, MC901 provides higher toughness, better flexibility, and improved fatigue resistance.

It is an ideal material for gears, racks, and transmission gears.

PA6 + Oil Filled Nylon Sheet (Green)

PA6 + Oil Filled Nylon is a self-lubricating cast Nylon 6 material specially developed for components that cannot be lubricated, high-load applications, and low-speed operating conditions.

It greatly expands the application range of nylon materials.

Compared with ordinary nylon, oil-filled nylon has a lower friction coefficient, which can be reduced by approximately 50%, while wear resistance can be improved up to 10 times.

PA6 + MOS2 Nylon Sheet (Gray Black)

PA6 + MOS2 contains molybdenum disulfide powder.

Without affecting the impact strength and fatigue resistance of unmodified cast nylon, it improves load-bearing capacity and wear resistance.

It is widely used for manufacturing gears, bearings, sprockets, and sleeves.

PA6 + Solid Lubricant Nylon Sheet (Gray)

PA6 + Solid Lubricant Nylon is a modified cast Nylon 6 material containing solid lubricants.

This material provides excellent self-lubricating properties, outstanding friction performance, excellent wear resistance, and higher pressure-speed capability compared with standard cast nylon.

It is especially suitable for high-speed moving components where lubrication is unavailable and is an ideal alternative to oil-filled nylon.

It also features high mechanical strength, stiffness, hardness, toughness, aging resistance, mechanical vibration damping performance, excellent sliding properties, wear resistance, good machinability, and dimensional stability.
